SEEing Youth

“SEEing Youth: Supporting, Educating and Enabling Youth” is a civil society project jointly implemented by the Cyprus Turkish Managers Association, the Human Resources Management Association, and PeacePlayers-Cyprus. It is funded by the European Union under the Civil Society at Work VII Grant Program for Cyprus. SEEing Youth began in December 2021 and covers a period of 36 months.

Main Objective:
To contribute to the creation of an advanced youth environment both socially and professionally through an interdisciplinary approach across sectors

Project Objectives:
1. Advocacy efforts for the development of youth to strengthen youth employment,
2. Initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional capacities of youth and institutions,
3. Activities promoting greater engagement of youth, private sector, and CSOs in the field of social responsibility.

A.3 “Inspire the Future” Social Responsibility Small Grant Program
A.3.1 Awareness-raising activities on social responsibility and active citizenship
A.3.2 Small grant program for social responsibility projects developed in partnership by young individuals, CSOs, and companies.

SEEing Youth, as a continuation of the successful “Inspire the Future” Project carried out between 2018 and 2020, will provide funded internship opportunities for young individuals seeking work experience in July and August of 2022, 2023, and 2024. This internship program will offer not only work experience but also educational opportunities. Anyone above 18 years of age and interested in making social investments can apply. In order to reach young individuals from all regions of northern Cyprus, this year’s internship program will open positions in Lefkosia, Mağusa, and Girne/Kyrenia, as well as in İskele/Trikomo, Güzelyurt/Morphou, and Lefke/Lefka. In 2023 and 2024, the internship program will provide opportunities for young people from all over Cyprus to come together by offering internship positions across the entire island.

Equal Rights for All: Improving Employee Rights

Project Budget: 260.920,00 EUR

 

The project “Equal Rights for All: Improving Employee Rights” is funded by the European Union under the Civil Society at Work VII Grant Program for Cyprus.

 

The project, aiming to support the creation of working conditions where all private sector employees have equal rights, commenced on December 1, 2021, through a collaboration between the Human Resources Management Association and the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association.

 

Three key areas stand out in the project:

 

  1. Legal and Psychological Support Mechanism.
  2. Capacity-Building Training for the Private Sector.
  3. Enhancement of the Existing Local Legal Framework and Conducting a Comprehensive Study on Local Legislation Regarding Mobbing.

1. Legal and Psychological Support Mechanism: A pool of lawyers to provide free legal aid to victimized employees, and a pool of psychologists to offer psychological support.

2. Capacity-Building Training for the Private Sector: Various capacity-building trainings based on human rights for private sector employees and company managers. At the end of the training, an employee handbook including best practices will be prepared.

3. Improvement of the Existing Local Legal Framework and Local Legislation Work on Mobbing: A series of lobbying visits were conducted to monitor and address violations of employee rights. In addition, a draft legal text regarding mobbing was prepared and presented to representatives of local bodies.
